Solution: Assume there exist such natural numbers kk and nn that 22n+1=k32^{2^{n}} + 1 = k^{3}. Then kk must be an odd number and we have 22n=k3−1=(k−1)(k2+k+1)2^{2^{n}} = k^{3} - 1 = (k - 1)(k^{2} + k + 1). Hence k−1=2sk - 1 = 2^{s} and k2+k+1=2tk^{2} + k + 1 = 2^{t} where ss and tt are some positive integers. Now 22s=(k−1)2=k2−2k+12^{2s} = (k - 1)^{2} = k^{2} - 2k + 1 and 2t−22s=3k2^{t} - 2^{2s} = 3k. But 2t−22s2^{t} - 2^{2s} is even while 3k3k is odd, a contradiction.
